Pulmonary Artery Aneurysms
P ULMONARY ARTERY aneurysms are relatively rare lesions. One hundred and fifty-two cases have been found in world literature. The purpose of this communication is to review briefly available information on the subject and to report a case in which successful surgical treatment has been achieved. Boyd and MeGavack,' in 1939, reported 111 cases of pulmonary aneurysm proved at necropsy. In 1947, D...
متن کاملAneurysms of the pulmonary artery.
P ulmonary artery (PA) aneurysms (PAAs) are rare and infrequently diagnosed. Deterling and Clagett 1 discovered 8 cases of PAAs in 109 571 consecutive postmortem examinations. PAAs generally occurred in a younger age group than aortic aneurysms with an equal sex incidence. 2 Eighty-nine percent of all PAAs were located in the main PA, whereas only 11% were located in the pulmonary branches. 3 W...
متن کاملMultiple bilateral intraparenchymal pulmonary artery aneurysms.
A 41-year-old male with cough and subtle chest radiograph opacities demonstrated bilateral intraparenchymal pulmonary artery aneurysms on computed tomography (Figs 1 and 2). Causes include congenital cardiac defects, pulmonary arterial hypertension and infection. The patient had been treated during childhood for Staphylococcal pneumonia prior to ventricular septal defect closure. He declined fu...
متن کاملBilateral pulmonary artery aneurysms in Behçet's disease.
A patient presented with fever, haemoptysis and large bilateral perihilar masses. Histology proved that these were pulmonary artery aneurysms due to pulmonary vasculitis, as a manifestation of Behçet's disease. It is suggested that a routine dynamic computed tomographic (CT) scan should be performed in the evaluation of such cases.
متن کاملA case of isolated peripheral pulmonary artery branch stenosis associated with multiple pulmonary artery aneurysms.
Selective right pulmonary arteriography and 3-dimensional computed tomography revealed multiple severe stenoses of the peripheral pulmonary artery associated with poststenotic aneurysms in a 65-year-old woman. She was referred to the hospital for evaluation of dry cough, gradually increasing dyspnea and multiple nodular shadows on a chest radiograph. Echocardiography and cardiac catheterization...
